Classic Fashion Pieces We’ve Never Had to Say Goodbye to

Fashion is constantly changing and evolving and whether its for the better, has always been an interesting topic of conversation. Despite every potentially controversial opinion, we can’t deny that there have been particular fashion pieces that have stayed throughout the years. It is apparent that those who chose to invest in particular staple fashion pieces many years ago such as blazers and leather jackets, down to accessories such as pearl necklaces, have yet to part with their iconic pieces even in the face of ever-changing trends. The following items continue to stay in style, season after season and make quite the statement.

The Trench Coat

The trench coat has been around for decades and has quite a rich history. It was originally developed for British Army officers before the First World War, and became the popular attire to wear in the trenches; hence it receiving the name trenchcoat. Typically made of heavy duty fabric, the trenchcoat is perfect to weather those rough and rainy conditions; whilst making a fabulous fashion statement. As of late this iconic item of clothing has not been worn on the regular, however, with the weather cooling down in Melbourne, be sure to see it everywhere you look.

Leather Jackets

Over the years, the leather jacket has earned its iconic status from its ability to remain such a timeless clothing piece; never failing to stay in fashion. Originally starting off as a “bomber jacket”, this jacket can now be acquired in various different styles due to its constant growth in popularity. The fabulous thing about a leather jacket is the more worn and weathered it looks, the better. If you choose to invest in quality and genuine leather, this is a jacket that you could hold on to for years and years and always count on it to pull your outfit together.

Blazers

I have to say, out of all the pieces on this list the blazer is probably most commonly owned wardrobe item. All my friends own one and my mum owns at least a couple vintage ones. This wardrobe staple is the new rage. The thing I love about a blazer is that it’s so versatile; It can be worn casually as well as dressed up. It looks fabulous with a pair of wide leg jeans and also looks exquisite with a nice black satin slip dress. The blazer requires little styling; with the piece itself having chic written all over it.

Pearl Accessories

Moving on to accessories, pearls, my personal favourite way to enhance any outfit, have always upheld a certain status of class. Worn over the centuries and very popular amongst society, wearing a set of pearls historically symbolised femininity and grace. Still to this very day, pearl jewellery is considered very elegant but tends only to make an appearance on special occasions as opposed to it being worn on the daily like many decades ago.

Black Pumps

There’s no surprise pumps, more specifically black pumps, had to make the list. This classic and not to mention iconic shoe is basically everything the word fashion stands for. Being the shoe of preference in all fashion related movies and a staple when it comes to a capsule wardrobe, no wonder pumps have and will not ever see the end of a season. This classy heel is the go to shoe for the office as well as the perfect choice for an evening out.

So there you have it, the classic pieces we’ve never had to say goodbye to. Fashion is constantly changing but there is always going to be those iconic wardrobe items that will never go out of fashion. If you invest in quality pieces and even seek out items with some history attached to them, you may just come across that classic fashion piece you’ll never have to part with.
